Uganda’s minister for ICT and national guidance has commissioned a team of six experts to revamp the operations of Uganda’s national broadcaster, the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC TV and Radio). The team will be led by the executive director of the African Centre for Media Excellence, Dr Peter Mwesige.

Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the team, Mr Frank Tumwebaze said the team is tasked with reviewing and assessing all the television and radio channels under the national broadcaster.

“UBC has great potential to shine both within the country and on the airwaves worldwide. It is my intention therefore to have a strong and well managed national broadcaster able to cover the whole country, fully close the gap left by the private players and help to tell a true story about Uganda’s rich heritage,” Mr Tumwebaze said.
