When patients are prisoners: Part II

Various detention facilities in Uganda are home to mentally ill inmates.

Last year, the Constitutional Court ruled that it’s unlawful to keep these sick inmates behind bars and recommended that they should be taken for treatment in facilities designated for the mentally ill, such as Butabika hospital.

However, as FREDERIC MUSISI writes in the second part of this series, action is yet to be taken.
