The African Centre for Media Excellence is pleased to invite applications for its third fellowship programme. The ACME fellowship is a six-month in-service journalism training and mentoring opportunity that also gives fellows access to up to Shs2.5 million in financial support towards three (3) reporting projects. Print, electronic and online Ugandan journalists with 2-5 years of experience are encouraged to apply.

Benefits of the fellowship

  • A 5-day public affairs reporting crash course focusing on the meat and bones of Uganda’s local government system
  • A 3-day introductory course in data journalism
  • A one-day dataset building seminar
  • A grant of up to Shs2.5 million per fellow to support three special reporting projects
  • Attendance of 3 data clinics during which fellows explore story ideas from the datasets assembled with ACME
  • Two hours of one-on-one mentoring with a senior journalist each month of the fellowship

  3. Or complete, print and bring the application form to our offices in Bunga-Soya, off Ggaba Road
  4. Ask your editor to write a letter supporting your application and send it to pkimumwe@acme-ug.org

  • The deadline for application is 6 March 2015
  • Support letter from your editor is a MUST
  • Application form MUST be completely filled out
  • Your story pitch MUST be about local government
