Two of Uganda’s news websites have been ranked among the top 50 in Africa by an Australia-based global ranking firm.
4 International Media & Newspapers is an international directory and search engine that ranks at least 7000 newspapers in 200 countries around the world.
According to the website, the ranking is based upon “an algorithm including three unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from three different search engines including Google Page Rank, Yahoo Inbound Links, and Alexa Traffic Rank,”
It however notes that the ranking is not based on the quality of journalism or reputation.
“The aim of this website is to provide an approximate popularity ranking of worldwide newspapers based upon the popularity of their websites. This can especially help international readers and media/PR professionals to understand how popular a specific newspaper is in a foreign country.” reads the website.
