Uganda Media Owners a big threat to Press Freedom

Peter, I thought this was quite concise. My personal view is that most of the Media Owners especially Radio and TV Stations and opportunistic business men and women who are not committed at all to expanding the Freedom of Expression space; rather their motivation of opening up those media outlets is strictly profits. This is why any slightest threat results into disproportionate and unprincipled compromises. I therefore agree with you that the biggest threat to the media is the selfish interests of their owners themselves and to some extent managers of those Media Houses. This is why some of them behave more like political activists than owners and managers.
The challenge however, is what can we do to change all these? How about the argument that investments in the media are expensive undertakings which should be protected through “proper” behaviors? Cheers.
