ACME’s new report analysing ‘The public agenda on productive use of solar energy in agriculture’, was undertaken between September and December 2023 to explore various applications of solar energy within agriculture in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and identify key stakeholders. Additionally, it reviews the legal frameworks governing solar energy use in these three countries.
The goal of this mapping study and situational analysis is to promote greater adoption of sustainable off-grid renewable energy (solar) solutions for agricultural development in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. By examining the current state of the public discourse regarding the Productive Use of off-grid Solar Energy (PUSE), it seeks to promote greater adoption of these sustainable off-grid renewable energy solutions.
The report is produced as part of ACME’s two-year project, implemented in partnership with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, to enhance communication channels, foster better engagement with stakeholders, and improve public awareness of renewable energy technologies.
