Gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive training for journalists in Uganda

  • Deadline: 12 February 2023
  • Training dates: 22-24 February 2023

African Centre for Media Excellence, with support from UNESCO, invites applications from journalists in Uganda for a three-day training workshop on conflict-sensitive and gender-responsive reporting.

Why now?

In much of the world, the violent conflict that the media must report on has changed. It is increasingly not the traditional warfare between nations but is now the violent strife among people within common or rough borders, often between communities, tribes, and other interests. The news media, with its new technologies and wider reach, is increasingly a target for misinformation, manipulation or suppression by interests seeking to profit from the violent conflict.

Who can attend?

The course is intended for journalists in Uganda working with media organisations, including online platforms. Freelance journalists are free to apply. Selected journalists will be fully sponsored and required to commit to and complete all aspects of the programme before, during, and after the course.

Women and journalists based upcountry are especially encouraged to apply.

How to apply
