WHAT HAPPENED
Four environmental activists protesting the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline were arrested by police in Kampala on 9 December 2022. Bob Barigye, Ivan Kabale, Hamis Musoke and Jackson Ssemwanga were picked up by police as they staged a protest through the streets of Kampala. The demonstration was one of several held to stop the construction of the pipeline because of human rights and environmental concerns.
