WHAT HAPPENED
Nine people were arrested by police in Kampala for staging a demonstration in support of a European Parliament resolution resolution on human rights and environmental protection violations related to the planned construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). The protestors, most who were student leaders from Makerere University, Kyambogo University and Makerere University Business School, were intercepted as they marched to the offices of the European Union Delegation to Uganda. The students were charged with inciting violence.
