WHAT HAPPENED
New Vision photojournalist, Johnson Were, was brutally assaulted by Gabriel Aredo, a member of Warriors Rugby Club. Witnesses say Were was beaten up for taking pictures of Aredo in a scuffle with national team player, Alex Mubiru, during a Kyabazinga Sevens match. Video of the assault made the rounds on social media and the attack was publicly condemned by the Uganda Sports Press Association. Aredo later received a 10-month suspension for the attack.
