WHAT HAPPENED
John Ssentamu alias Kelton John, a 26-year-old resident of Kampala was picked up by the police on 30 August 2022 after a joke he made on Twitter about the Speaker of Parliament went viral. In the tweet, Ssentamu said skin bleaching chemicals used by the Speaker irritated the Pope’s skin when she met him at a visit to the Vatican. He was remanded and charged with offensive communication and was released on bail a month later to await trial.
