NTV Uganda newsroom gets new boss

Ms Josephine Karungi, the newly appointed acting head of news at NTV Uganda, has taken up her new task with the goal of letting her work do the talking.

NTV Uganda announced Ms Karungi’s appointment on Monday, 1 October 2018.

In a message to ACME, Ms Karungi, who holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Makerere University, said: “I hope to give my best and I hope the results will speak louder than I ever could.”

She said the appointment means growth for her career. “We all must grow or bloom where we are; if we are not growing, what are we doing in the spaces we occupy?”

Ms Karungi joined NTV Uganda as a news anchor in 2009 during which she also took on the tasks of producer, reporter and show host.

“It’s been 10 years of learning, and I look forward to learning more and sharing in practice what I have learnt,” she said.

Ms Karungi currently produces and hosts Perspective with Josephine Karungi, a show that airs at 8 p.m. on Sunday and dissects “issues that affect the everyday person — business, career, money, health, family relationships and more”.

Said Ms Karungi: “I am thankful for this appointment, which is an opportunity for me to contribute even more to an organisation that serves us all.”

Karungi replaces her former boss, Mr Maurice Mugisha, who has moved to UBC as deputy managing director. She will report to Mr Daniel Kalinaki, the head of editorial, Nation Media Group Uganda. The NMG outlets in Uganda are Daily Monitor, The EastAfrican, Enyanda, Dembe FM, KFM and NTV.
