ACME Annual Lecture 2017 – Politics, the media and independence of the judiciary by Dr Willy Mutunga

On 8 November 2017, the African Centre for Media Excellence held its 4th annual lecture on media and politics in Africa. The lecture was delivered by Dr Willy Mutunga, 14th Chief Justice of Post- Independence Kenya and the 1st President of the Supreme Court. Drawing on his personal and professional experience, he discussed the conceptual and practical parameters of the traditional analysis of the principle of the independence of the Judiciary, and how politics and the media impact the theory and practice of the independence of Judiciary.
