The Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda (FCAU) has raised concern over abuses meted out at journalists while covering the 2016 general elections.
The Association particularly pointed at the pepper spraying of AFP correspondent Isaac Kasamani by plain-clothed security operatives, adding the action was unjustified.
They also refuted allegations that two foreign correspondents assaulted a police officer when Mr Kasamani was being assaulted.
In a statement issued yesterday, the FCAU board emphasized the need for journalists, both local and foreign, to be allowed to carry out their work without hindrance.
