The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) monitors media performance in the East African region with the aim of stimulating public debate on journalism and contemporary issues in media and public communication. Key issues include journalism quality, professionalism and ethical standards, media independence, media ownership, as well as pluralism and diversity.
The overall objective of our media monitoring project is to strengthen the quality of journalism and media performance in Uganda and the Eastern Africa region.
- To monitor media performance and provide a platform for constructive evidence-based media criticism.
- To stimulate analysis and debate of media performance and journalism practice in the region.
- To promote more accountability in the media.
ACME also offers Media Monitoring services to companies and organisations interested in media coverage of specific issues.
