Rwandan journalist killed in Kampala

A Rwandan journalist Charles Ingabire has been shot dead in Kampala, police has said.

 

Mr Ingabire, 32, who was the editor for Inyenyeri news in Rwanda was shot dead by an unknown person at a bar in Kampala on November 30.

 

Two suspects, a guard and a waiter from the bar have been arrested over the murder.

 

According to Police, Mr Igabire's body was found with two bullet wounds.

 

Mr Ibin Ssekumbi, the police spokesman for Kampala Metropolitan said that investigations into the murder had started and "we are following all leads from the two suspects we have in custody."

 

Police says that Mr Ingabire was at Makies 2 Bar in Bekesa, a Kampala suburb having drinks with an unidentified man who "was seen running away after Ingabire was shot".

 

Mr Ingabire has been living in Uganda as a refugee since 2007.

 

According to Reporters Without Borders, before fleeing Rwanda and launching Inyenyeri News (www.inyenyerinews.org), Ingabire worked for the Kigali-based newspaper Umuco.
