CLOSED: Local Government Reporting Fellowship

The African Centre for Media Excellence is pleased to invite applications for its fifth fellowship programme. The ACME fellowship is a six-month in-service journalism training and mentoring opportunity targeting young and ambitious print, electronic and online Ugandan journalists with 2-5 years of experience. The fellows are given access to up to Shs. 2 million in financial support towards two (2) reporting projects.

Since its inception, 49 young and ambitious journalists have been awarded the prestigious fellowship.

Key things to keep in mind
• The deadline for application is 11 August 2016
• Support letter from your editor is a MUST
• Application form MUST be completely filled out
• Your story pitch MUST be about local government

Benefits of the fellowship
• A 10-day public affairs reporting and data journalism crash course (split into two 5-day each) focusing on the meat and bones of Uganda’s local government system
• A grant of up to Shs2 million per fellow to support two special reporting projects
• Two hours of one-on-one mentoring with a senior journalist each month of the fellowship
